MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcat soccer squad opened the Southern States Athletic Conference portion of their schedule Thursday night at home against Middle Georgia State. Bethel fell 2-1 and saw their record fall to 7-2 overall and 0-1 in league play. MGS moved to 5-4 and 1-0.  It was Bethel's first match since September 20 when they suffered a 1-0 loss at Lindenwood-Belleville.

Bethel's Janine Dennis gave the Lady Wildcats a 1-0 lead with a header off a corner kick by Elvira Martin at the 9:03 mark of the first period.  Bethel outshot the Knights 9-3 in the first 45 minutes. The Lady Cats had a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal in the period. 

MGS's Sam Silva tied the match at 1-1 at 31:58 of the second period.  At the 11:20 mark Silva gave the Lady Knights a 2-1 lead on a penalty kick.

Bethel outshot MGS 15-9. Both squads finished with four shots on goal. Brooke Best had three saves for the Knights while Danielle Krzyzaniak recorded two saves for Bethel.  

Bethel jumps back into league play hosting Brewton-Parker Saturday at 1 p.m. The contest will be played at Bethel's Soccer Complex.
