MCKENZIE, Tenn. (07.10.09) - Dyer County Choctaw Shea Thomas has been added to the 2009-10 baseball recruiting class. Thomas from Newbern, Tenn. pitches and plays middle infield is also an accomplished hitter. He is the son of Farrell and Sandy Thomas.
Thomas started all four years for the Choctaws and Head Coach Preston Ozment. This past season Thomas was named First Team All-State as a pitcher and infielder. He is 2nd all-time in the state with 226 career hits. This past season for the TSSAA State Champion Choctaws, Thomas had 69 hits (3rd in state) with a .479 average and 6 homers. On the mound he was 10-1.
"I'm very excited about signing a player of this caliber," said Bethel Head Baseball Coach Rusty Thompson. "He comes from such a strong high school program and has had tremendous success. The coaching staff is happy that he has decided to continue his success here at Bethel."
Thomas was getting looks from Lambuth University, Arkansas State University and UT-Martin. He chose Bethel because he felt like it was a good fit. He is undecided on his intended major.
