HATTIESBURG, Miss. (09.12.09) -The Bethel Lady Wildcats soccer team gave up two goals in the first half to the number 5 team in the country in a 3-1 loss to William Carey University. Bethel was outshot in the first half, but made adjustments at half time to take 7 shots to WCU's 4. The Lady ‘Cats did score late to avoid the shutout.
The Lady Crusaders' Jeana Erickson opened the scoring with a goal in the fourth minute on Bethel keeper Cayla Avila. WCU's Natalia Nino put Carey up 2-0 with a goal with 4.9 seconds to play in the first half.
Carey's Aimi Beresford gave the Lady Crusaders a 3-0 lead in the 68th minute. The Lady Wildcats' Maryse Beauregard spoiled the Lady Crusaders shutout with the game's final goal in the 89th minute.
Bethel is 0-3-1 and is set to play Louisiana State University - Shreveport in Hattiesburg, Miss. on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 2:00pm. The next home game will be on Thursday, September 17, 2009 as Bethel hosts Delta State University at 4:00pm.
