BATESVILLE, Ark. (09.12.09) -The Bethel volleyball team continues to set new historical marks in the 2009 campaign. Fresh off their first-ever win over Freed-Hardeman, the Lady Wildcats are off to their best start in programs history at 7-0 (4-0). Bethel has not lost a game in their last five matches. On Saturday, Bethel defeated Lyon College (Ark.) 3-0 and Philander Smith College (Ark.) 3-0.
 

In an important conference match against Lyon College, Thaise Vieira led the offense with 17 kills on 25 attempts. T. Vieira leads the nation in hitting percentage (50.7%) and is third in kills (11.9%). She also had 14 digs, one solo and assisted block. Jessica Vieira had 7 kills on 18 attempts; she had four digs, two solo blocks and a block assist. Abbey Masters posted six kills on 11 attempts; she had one service ace, nine digs, one solo block and 29 set assists. Masters ranked number three in the nation with 11.9 set assists per game. Shea Sheppard, Macy Kint and Adrianna Bookout-Gonzalez each had four kills.

Defensively, Michele Cunha led the team with 16 digs.

Bethel rolls to 7-0 (4-0) to start the season. They will play a huge match on the road at Union University on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 7:00pm. Not only a rivalry game, the Lady Bulldogs are 11-0 (2-0) on the season.
