HENDERSON, Tenn. - Thaise Vieira of Bethel (Tenn.) University has been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference volleyball player of the week for the week ending Sept. 13, 2009.
Vieira, a 5-foot-8 middle blocker from Mantozinhos, Brazil, was dominant at the net in leading the Lady Wildcats to a pair of conference wins during the week as Bethel swept both Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University and Lyon (Ark.) College.

She averaged 5.8 kills and 3.7 digs per game with a hitting percentage of .583 in the wins, including an 18-kill performance against preseason conference favorite Freed-Hardeman, marking the first time in school history that the Lady Wildcats defeated FHU. She also tallied six total blocks in the win. Vieira added 17 kills and 14 digs in a 3-0 win over Lyon later in the week.

Bethel is now 7-0 on the season.
