Lebanon, Tenn. (09.19.09) - The Bethel Lady Wildcats had a great weekend at the Cumberland University volleyball tournament winning all four of their games 3-0. With the four wins, Bethel goes to 11-1 on the season and is off to the best start in program history.
 

In game one, the Lady ‘Cats defeated Faulkner University (Ala.) 25-16, 25-12 and 25-17. The offensive tandem of Thaise Vieira and Adrianna Bookout-Gonzalez posted 30 kills. Abbey Masters set assisted 29 and defensively Michele Cunha and Lori Magnusen had 16 and 14 digs.

Bethel continued to dominate in game two against Mountain State University (W.V.) winning 25-12, 25-14 and 25-16. The trio of Bookout-Gonzalez, T. Vieira and Masters collected 31 kills. Masters set assisted 23 and Cunha led with 14 digs.

Saturday's action was much of the same as Bethel defeated Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) 25-15, 15-14 and 25-18 in the third game. Jessica Vieira matched her sister T. Vieira with 11 kills each. Masters posted 26 set assists and Cunha continued her good defensive effort with 14 digs.

In the fourth and final game, Bethel defeated Rio Grande University (Ohio) 25-16, 25-16 and 25-19. Offensively, T. Vieira led with 14 kills, Bookout-Gonzalez had 10 and J. Vieira had 9. Masters had 40 set assists. The defensive effort was split between six Lady Wildcats. Magnusen led with 10 digs, Jessie Davis had 9, T. Vieira and Bookout-Gonzalez had 8 and Masters and Cunha had 7 digs.

The Lady ‘Cats will have a busy week. On Tuesday, September 22, 2009 they will host Trevecca Nazarene University at 7:00pm. On Thursday, September 24, they Lady ‘Cats will play Cumberland University in McKenzie at 6:00pm. Then on Saturday, September 26, Bethel will welcome Brescia University to the Dishman Gymnasium for a 2:00pm start time.
