HENDERSON, Tenn. (09.28.09) - The Bethel Lady Wildcats volleyball team lost for just the second time all season 1-3 in a hard fought four game match against the Lady Lions of Freed-Hardeman University. Bethel did not lose a game by more than four points, 22-25, 23-25, 25-18 and 25-21.
After back and forth battles in games one and two, the Lady ‘Cats rode a wave of momentum to take game three. In game four, Bethel couldn't get enough distance between them and Freed to be in a position to continue the match.
Leading the offense again was Thaise Vieira with 26 kills on 62 attacks while committing 10 errors. T. Vieira also had two service aces and two solo blocks. Adrianna Bookout-Gonzalez had 11 kills on four errors and 37 attempts and had two services aces with a block. J. Vieira had five kills on 13 attacks. Abbey Masters led the way with 44 set assists. Michele Cunha posted 23 digs to lead the team with Jessie Davis with 15 and Masters with 13.
Bethel is 13-2 (5-2) on the season. They will be in TranSouth Conference action on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 7:00pm as they host the Pipers of Lyon College. Then on Saturday, October 3, 3009 at 3:00pm they will face Kentucky Wesleyan (NCAA D-II) at home in the Dishman Gymnasium.
