MCKENZIE, Tenn. (10.02.09) - The number one ranked Bethel Wildcats started off a little slow against Trevecca Nazarene University scoring just once in the first half, but Bethel exploded for five goals in the second for a 6-0 victory. The Bethel defense was up to the task and did not allow one shot on goal.

It was evident that Trevecca's plan was to pack in the defense to slow down the Bethel offensive juggernaut. Bethel did finally breakthrough in the 37th minute as Guilherme Karaoglan scored on an assist by Andres Mejia.

The second half was much different as Bethel exploded for four goals in just 11 minutes. Dawyne Smith put Bethel up 2-0 with an assist from Mario Vila Boa in the 64th minute. Just 1:08 later, Vila Boa scored for a 3-0 lead. That seemed to put TNU is disarray as Bethel found the net again 1:48 later as Smith scored his second with help from Vila Boa. The Wildcats finished off the scoring outburst seven minutes later on a goal by Joseph Omondi with an assist by Karalogan. The ‘Cats finished the scoring with a goal by Samsideen Singateh for a 6-0 lead.

Bethel outshot TNU 20-0 in the contest. Massimo Collu-Marchese picked up the win with 86:29 in net. Stefan Zelad finished up the duties in goal.

Bethel remains undefeated at 7-0-1. Dating back to last season, the Wildcats are undefeated in their last 22 matches. They have outscored their opponents 36-3 on the season. The Wildcats will host what is arguably their biggest rival, Mid-Continent University, on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 2:00pm.
