MCKENZIE, Tenn. (10.02.09) - The Bethel Lady Wildcats earned an important conference victory over the visiting Lady Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene University. Bethel trailed 1-0, but scored four unanswered goals for the 4-1 win.
The Lady ‘Cats found themselves down 1-0 after Trevecca's Ann Hill scored. But, Bethel would tie the game before the half on Kelly-Jade Whelen's goal in the 40th minute with an assist by Candace Solcido.
Bethel made adjustments during halftime and outshot the Lady Trojans 7-3 in the second frame and cashed in on three. Whelen would score her second of the afternoon with an assist from Maryse Beauregard in the 58th minute. Beauregard scored her own goal in the 64th minute for a 3-1 lead. But Beauregard wasn't done there scoring again in the 88th minute.
Jackie Gardner picked up the win in net with six saves.
Bethel improves to 3-3-1 on the year. They will be on the road Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 5:00pm for a match against Union University in Jackson, Tenn. They will then host Martin Methodist College on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 1:00pm.
