Bethel Women Golfers Win at Martin Methodist

Wildcats Defeat Rhodes College Lynx
CLIFTON, Tenn. (10.03.09) - The Bethel University Women's Golf Team captured their third victory of the fall season Friday, October 2, 2009 by shooting a score of 354; bettering host Martin Methodist College by 39 strokes in the Redhawk Classic contested at Ross Creek Landing Golf Club in Clifton, Tennessee.
Wildcat Baillie Johnson, a sophomore from Pickwick, shot round of 82 on the tough Jack Nicklaus design to capture the individual championship. Bethel's Jessica Maness, a freshman from Lexington, carded an 88 to finish third and received an all-tournament award. Senior Hayley Williams of Trenton and freshman Kelsey Schwartz of Bartlett both shot 92 to round-out the team scoring in the play five count four format. Bethel's Emily Muse of Paris and freshman Malorie James of Gleason (playing as an individual) were the remaining Bethel participants. Cumberland University also entered three golfers who competed individually.
Memphis, Tenn. (09/24/09) - Bethel University defeated Rhodes College at the Links at Galloway 349 to 360. Leading Bethel was medalist Hayley Williams who shot 83.
Baillie Johnson added an 86, Emily Muse an 87 and Jessica Maness, playing despite a wrist injury sustained on the fifteenth hole, carded a 93. Kelsey Schwartz and Malorie James also competed for Bethel
