LEBANON, Tenn. (10.14.09) - The Bethel University Lady Wildcats won game one, but dropped the next three in a 3-1 loss to the host Lady Bulldogs of Cumberland University. Bethel took game one 25-18, but lost 25-23, 25-19 and 25-17. The Lady ‘Cats started the day in first place by percentage points in the TranSouth Conference but now is currently in second.
Bethel had trouble on the offensive hitting just .055%, 43 kills and 34 errors. Adrianna Bookout-Gonzalez led the team with 12 kills on 42 total attacks and added one block assist. Thaise Vieira had 11 kills on 44 attacks, two service aces, 11 digs on one block assist. Jessica Vieira had 10 kills on 35 attacks, one service ace, four digs and one block assist. Abbey Masters had four kills on 15 attempts, led the team with 35 set assists and had 13 digs. Shea Sheppard added in three kills on 17 attacks, one service ace, two digs and four block assists.
Bethel is 17-3 (8-3) on the season. This year's record is the best start the program has ever had in its history. The Lady Wildcats will be in action in Owensboro, Ky. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 6:00pm as they face Kentucky Wesleyan University. They will return home to play Martin Methodist College on Thursday, October 22, 209 at 7:00pm.
