MCKENZIE, Tenn. (10.17.09) - The Bethel Lady Wildcats tied their second consecutive conference match with a 1-1 (2OT) game against the Pipers of Lyon College. The tie did keep the Lady ‘Cats undefeated in conference play and in second place in the standings.
 

Lyon kept the pressure on in the first half out shooting Bethel 8-3, but no one found the net for a 0-0 tie.

Bethel broke the tie in the second half on a goal by Maryse Beauregard in the 69th minute with an assist from Marika Fukuta. But the 1-0 lead was short lived as Lyon score in the 71st minute for a 1-1 tie.

Lyon took three shots in the first overtime, but was unable to connect. Bethel took four shots in the second overtime but was unable to score as the teams ended in the tie.

Bethel goalkeeper, Jackie Gardner, who was named NAIA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week last week made ten saves.

Bethel saw six seniors playing in their last home game; Tashana Taylor, Marika Fukuta, Carla Chambers, Kimmarley Chin, Jordan Nuffer and Candace Solcido.

Bethel is 3-3-3 (2-0-2) and will play Union University in Jackson, Tenn. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 5:00pm. Then they will travel to Rome, Ga. to play Shorter College on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 1:00pm.
