BATESVILLE, Ark.(10.19.09) - Bethel University's Vila Boa has been selected as the TranSouth Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Bethel University's Massimo Collu-Marchese has been honored as the TranSouth Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 12-18, 2009.
Vila Boa, a sophomore forward from Durban, South Africa, helped the Wildcats extend their school-record unbeaten streak to 26 matches with 7-0 rout of Lyon College. He scored two goals and had two assists in the victory. The honor marks the third time this season that Vila Boa has been named TranSouth Offensive Player of the Week.
Collu-Marchese, a sophomore goalkeeper from Thornhill, Ontario (Canada), notched a shutout victory in the Wildcats' 7-0 triumph over Lyon College. The sophomore saved four shots and played 90 minutes in goal. The honor marks the second time Collu-Marchese has been named the TranSouth Defensive Player of the Week.
Bethel, the defending NAIA National Champion, is currently ranked No. 1 in the NAIA National Rankings and is 9-0-3 this season.
