MCKENZIE, Tenn. (10.21.09) - The NAIA's number one ranked Bethel Wildcats extended their unbeaten streak to 27 games dating back to last season with an 8-0 victory over the Bearcats of Brescia University (Ky.). After tying two games, Bethel has outscored their last three opponents 17-0.
 

The Wildcats were definitely offensively minded as they outshot the Bearcats 12-2 in the first half, 16-1 in the second and 28-3 for the game. Andres Mejia got the Wildcats on the scoreboard first in just the 7th minute of the game with an assist from Daniel Green. Bethel took a 2-0 lead in the 26th minute on Dawyne Smith's goal assisted by Mario Vila Boa. Just four minutes later, Smith scored again for a 3-0 lead. Joseph Omondi would score in the 41st minute on an assist by Eric Rosas for a 4-0 halftime lead.

Bethel kept coming in the second frame as Armondo Orozco scored just one minute into the second on a feed from Smith. One minute later and it was 6-0 on Vila Boa's goal on Rosas second assist. Rosas scored in the 56th minute with help from Rafael Karaoglan. Mejia finished what he started with a goal in the 59th minute on an assist from Smith.

All three Bethel goalkeepers, Massimo Collu-Marchese, Chaz Dachenhaus and Stefan Zalad saw action in the shutout.

Bethel is 10-0-3 (3-0-2) on the season and is in sole possession of number one in the nation. Bethel will host Lambuth University on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 2:00pm in the final regular season home match.
