
The Bethel College women’s soccer team easily handled Cumberland University in TranSouth conference action 8-0. Beth’s defense was stifling limiting the Lady Bulldogs to only one shot on goal in the contest.
The Lady Wildcats wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Leah O’Grady scored the first of her three goals on the afternoon in the sixth minute on an assist from Bobbi Todd. Carla Chambers found the net seven minutes later on an assist from DeAnna Flores. Chambers wasn’t finished there as she score her second goal of the game and Bethel had a 3-0 lead at the half.
Almost four minutes into the second half and O’Grady netted her second goal of the afternoon, this time from Kendall Nuffer. DeAnna Flores got into the goal scoring act as she gave the Lady Wildcats a 5-0 lead at the 54th minute on an assist by Chelsea Sheahan. O’Grady completed her hat trick in the 67th minute assisted by Candice Salcido. Laura Carpenter got past the Lady Bulldog goalkeeper for her first goal as a Wildcat on an assist by Marika Fukuta. Fukuta rounded out the scoring on an assist by Salcido.
The win improves the Lady Wildcats to 7-1, 3-1 on the season. They will be on the road to play McKendree College in McKendree, Ill. on Friday, September 21, 2007 and will play Lindenwood University on Sunday, September 22, 2007.
