JACKSON, Tenn. (10.31.09) - The Bethel cross country team competed in the TranSouth Conference Championship at Union University. The men's team finished third and the women's team finished fourth. Seven Bethel runners were named TranSouth Scholar Athletes.
 

The men finished third with a team time of 2:25.21. Bethuel Boinett placed third individually with a time of 27.13; Nelphat Bor was sixth with a time of 27.42; Emmanuel Tavares was 12th at 29.06; Jacob Robertson was 17th at 30.30; Ryan Niewenhuis was 18th at 31.30; Bill Robertson was 19th at 31.51; and Brett Adams was 23rd at 33.01.

The women placed fourth with a team time of 2:11.97. Emily LaForce came in #16 with a time of 24.23; Mallory Blankenship was #18 with a time of 24.46; Anna Martin was 19th with a time of 24.59; Mitzi Murphree was #26 with a time of 29.34; and Paige Martin was #27 with a time of 29.35.

Bethuel Boinett was named TSAC Newcomer of the Year and All-Conference. Bor was also was named to the All-Conference team.

TSAC Scholar Athletes for Bethel were: Anna Martin, Mallory Blankenship, Nelphat Bor, Bethuel Boinett, Ryan Niewenhuis, Ron Plemons and Bill Robertson.
