LEBANON, Tenn. (10.31.09) - The Bethel Wildcats have claimed the 2009 TranSouth Conference Championship with a 2-1 victory over the Bulldogs of Cumberland University. The nation's number one team is now unbeaten in its last 29 games dating back to last season. Being ranked No.1 in the first nine polls of the season, Bethel is the first team to be ranked No. 1for the first nine polls to start a season since 2004.
 

Bethel got on the board early in their match against the Bulldogs as Armando Orozco scored in the 4th minute with an assist from Felix Obilio. The Wildcats held the shooting advantage in the first half 8-4 and for the match 14-9.

Mario Kovacevic scored on header from a corner kick by Daniel Green in the 61st minute to take a 2-0 to take a 2-0 lead. But, the Wildcats could not keep the shutout as Cumberland's Adam Oqczarzak scored late in the 87th minute.

Massimo Collu-Marchese picked up the win, his 12th of the season.

Bethel is 12-0-3 (5-0-2) on the season. They will conclude the regular season on Monday, November 02, 2009 when they host Lambuth University at 2:00pm. It will also be Senior Day as Bethel's lone senior Massimo Collu-Marchese will be recognized.
