JACKSON, Tenn. (11.10.09) - With their 1-0 win over the hosting Lady Bulldogs of Union University, the Bethel University Lady Wildcats advance to the TranSouth Conference Women's Soccer Championship game. Bethel will travel to Pulaski, Tenn. on Friday, November 13, 2009 to play the #1 seeded Lady RedHawks of Martin Methodist College. Game time has yet to be determined.
 

Six Lady Wildcats garnered TranSouth All-Conference honors. First Team selections were midfielder Marika Fukuta, defender Jordan Nuffer and goalkeeper Jackie Gardner. Second Team selections were forward Maryse Beauregard, midfielder Morgan Keitel and defender Kimmarley Chin.

Earning TranSouth Scholar Athlete honors were Morgan Keitel, Marika Fukuta, Kimmarley Chin, Candace Salcido and Tashana Taylor.

The match was extremely even as both teams took nine shots in the contest. Bethel got the go ahead goal with 1:47 left in the first half as Marika Fukuta got the ball past Union goalkeeper Laura Pla.

Both teams had chances in the second half, but Bethel keeper Jackie Gardner made a couple of great saves to seal the win for the Lady Wildcats.

The team Bethel will face in the TranSouth Championship Game is no stranger. The two teams played earlier this season to a 0-0 (2OT) tie. Previous to that Bethel had not defeated or shut out the Lady RedHawks in eight previous tries. Martin advanced to the title game with a 6-1 win over Lyon College.
