The fourth ranked Bethel Wildcats received notification today from the NAIA that it will host a first round playoff game in the NAIA Football Championship Series. The game is scheduled for 2:30pm on November 17, 2007 at Wildcat Stadium. Bethel’s opponent is #13 Mid-America Nazarene University of Olathe, Kansas.

Ticket pre-orders are being taken by calling the Bethel College Athletics office at 731-352-6428. Pre-ordered tickets are $10.00 for adults and $15.00 the day of the game. Students are $5.00 pre-ordered and $10.00 the day of the game.

The Pioneers are members of the NAIA Heart of America Conference and have a record of 9-2 this season. Their losses have come against two teams that are also in the playoffs; #12 Lindenwood University and #9 Missouri Valley. Their wins have come against teams that are a combined 37-55. They currently are ranked #4 in the nation in total offense averaging 513 yards a game.

Bethel who wrapped up the Mid-South Conference West Division Title with their win against Lambuth University is currently 10-1 on the season. Their lone loss came at the hands of NCAA D-IAA Austin Peay State University; the Wildcats are undefeated in NAIA play. Bethel also touts a potent offense ranking #5 in the nation in total offense with 495 yards a game. Bethel’s 2006 All-American running back, Adrain Smith is currently #6 in the nation rushing for 131 yards per game. He is joined by fellow running back Terrance Bell who is ranked #11 in the nation with 117 yards per game.

The field of 16 will be whittled down until the final two teams remaining will meet on Saturday, December 15, 2007 in Savannah, Tenn. at Jim Carroll Stadium where the national champion will be determined.
