FRESNO, Calf. (11.30.09) - In recognition of the NAIA's Champions of Character inatitive, the Bethel University men's soccer team teamed up with Southern Polytechnic University (Ga.) to talk and play with the students of Aynesworth Elementary. Teams spent about an hour and half with first, second, fourth and sixth graders.

Players gave their prospective to the children on how playing soccer changed their lives positively and showed the young students tips on how to be a better soccer player. Bethel midfielder Armando Orozco told how playing soccer at Bethel had given him another "family". He added that playing soccer opened the door to meet new people and gave him a strong bond with teammates.

Players then demonstrated skills to the students and showed them techniques to practice to become better soccer players.

The NAIA Champions of Character program has established five core values that go well beyond the playing field to the daily decisions of our youth. These character values help young people - and those associated with their development - make good choices in all aspects of their life and reflect the true spirit of competition. The five core values are integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
