MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (12.12.09) - Competing in the MTSU Christmas Invitational, four member of the Bethel indoor track team punched their tickets to the NAIA National Track Championships in Johnson City, Tenn. March 4-6, 2010.

Samuel Hawkins qualified in the 55 meter dash for the fourth year in a row and this is his 5th time to become a national qualifier. Hawkins ran a 6.50 winning his heat. Freshman D'Angelo Gray qualified in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.45.

On the women's side, Katrina Bettard ran a 7.29 in the 55 meter dash and won her heat. Deseray Washingtion came in 3rd with a time of 7.39. Their times were good enough to qualify for nationals.

Coach Matt Aird thought all the athletes ran well. Jasmine Yancy and Brandon Cleaves both were within a few hundredths of a second from being qualified. Aird believes that with some hard work over the Christmas break, Bethel will have a few more make the NAIA nationals in the next track meet on January 22, 2010 at MTSU.
