MCKENZIE,
Tenn. (01.08.09) - The Bethel football program has added quarterback Ray Mallos
and punter/receiver Tim Litton from North Carolina. Both come from the Carolina
Pride and was formed primarily for home school and private school students, who
would otherwise not have the opportunity to play or participate.
Mallos was a two year starter at Porter Ridge High School
and one year for the Carolina Pride.
Mallos set the state record in North Carolina for completions in a game
(45). He has been named First Team
All-Conference two times and was a four year captain. His senior season he threw for over 2,500
yards, 25 touchdowns, 3 rushing touchdowns and a 63% completion rate. He believes his great assets are the ability
to improvise and make something out of nothing, leadership and accuracy. He plans on trying to minimize his mistakes.
Mallos earned the Presidential Award and was a member of
FCA.
Mallos chose Bethel because of the relationship with the coaches
and the opportunity to possibly play early.
He was being talked to by Duke, Marist College (N.Y.), Wagner College
(N.Y.) and Maryland. He plans on
majoring in Physical Education. He is
the son of Jim and Maria Mallos.
Litton is a punter/wide receiver from Indian Trail, N.C. and
is the son of Randy and Kathy Litton and Rachel Litton.
Litton was a 2009 First Team All-Conference Punter and Receiver. He was invited to the N.C. Shrine Bowl
Combine. His senior year he had 41
catches for 583 yards and 8 touchdowns.
He averaged 41.3 yards per punt and had a long of 58 yards. He considers himself a possession receiver
that is able to shield defenders and pick up first downs.
Litton chose Bethel because he believes that is easier to
build personal relationships with players, coaches and professors at a small
university. Litton was being recruited
by Wanyesburg University (Penn.), Tusculum College (Tenn.), St. Vincent College
(Penn.), Slippery Rock University (Penn.) and Marist College (N.Y.).
Litton will be majoring in
Mathematics while at Bethel.
