BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. (01.16.10) - Bethel came out of Blue Mountain with a 117-114 victory. It was a high tempo game and very physical. Donald "Trey" Harris dropped in 35 points in the win.
Bethel got even scoring in the first half as Harris had 15, Andre Crudup had 11, Dustin Ferguson 9 and Eddie King 8 points. The Wildcats shot 48% in the first as they took a 53-46 lead to the break.
Both teams really heated up in the second half, as Bethel shot 50% from the floor but Blue Mountain hit 62% from the field. But, BMC had five players foul out as the game got more physical. Renell Collins proved to be problem for the Wildcats as he scored 48 in the game and 29 in the second half. His shot at the buzzer to tie the game missed the mark allowing Bethel to claim their first conference win of the season. Trey Harris scored 20 of his 35 in the second and got contributions from Crudup with 13 points, Gavin McDaniel and Erin Harris with seven.
Trey Harris led with 35 points. Crudup ended with 24, Ferguson had 14 and King finished with 12 points. McDaniel and Erin Harris each had nine points.
The Wildcats improve to 10-6 (1-2) on the season. They will be at home Monday, January 18, 2010 at 6:00pm to play the Lady Bulldogs of Cumberland University. Then on Thursday, January, 21, 2009 they will travel to play Mid-Continent University with tip-off set for 6:00pm. Both games can be heard on 100.9 FM The Farm and on-line at www.bethelathletics.com.
