MAYFIELD, Ky. (01.21.10) - The Bethel Wildcats lost to the Cougars of Mid-Continent University 87-70 in a TranSouth Conference match-up. The ‘Cats were unable to hold onto the ball committing 29 turnovers to MCU's 17.
 

Bethel fell behind 13-0 to start the game, but cut the lead to five on Marcus McElrath's free throw at 12:17. But, MCU put together a couple of short runs to open their biggest lead of the game 32-15 with 6:39 left in the half. The Wildcats tried to clip into the lead, but the Cougars kept the lead holding a 39-27 halftime advantage. Fourteen Wildcats saw action in the first half, with Donald "Trey" Harris leading the offense with eight points; Dustin Ferguson added seven. BU turned the ball over 18 times to MCU's eight.

While Bethel made some improvements, the second half wasn't any more kind. The Cougars opened their largest lead of the game, 70-44 at the 10:24 mark. Bethel went on a 7-0 run and got to within 11 points on Andre Crudup's basket, 76-65 with 3:56 remaining. But, that is as close as the ‘Cats would get.

Trey Harris had 17 points and six rebounds. Andre Crudup had 16 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals. Eddie King, Dustin Ferguson and Cameron Clemons each had seven points.

Bethel falls to 9-10 and 1-4 in the TranSouth Conference. They will be at home on Saturday, January 23, 2009 as they host the Scots of Lyon College at 4:00pm.
