MCKENZIE, Tenn. (01.26.10) - The Bethel Bowling team has officially arrived with the signing of Blake Ainley and Dustin Roberson. Head Coach Clay Boyd is excited with the first two bowlers and is looking to add more for the 2010 recruiting class.

"I am very excited about adding the first two pieces of the puzzle to what I am confident will be a successful and ongoing program for many years," said Boyd. "I am confident that Blake and Dustin will represent our bowling program and our school well, and will also exemplify what it means to have strong character and integrity."

Ainley is from Murray High School in Murray, Ky. and hails from Warren, Mich. Ainley started bowling 13 years ago and has competed in various tournaments including KY State and Pepsi State. In 2004 he bowled overseas in a bowling tournament through the People to People Sports Ambassador Programs that promote good relations with youth in different nations and served as a team captain on the trip.

Ainley earned the award for high average in his youth league from 2002-2006. Ainley hit 11 strikes in a row (279) in the 2008-09 season. He had a high sanctioned series of 771 in 2009-10 season tournament and improved that score with 280 in the 2009-10 season.

Ainley chose Bethel because he has family that attended Bethel and seems like a good, friendly place to be. The teacher to student interaction, due to smaller classes, is also a reason for choosing Bethel. He is the son of Penny and Roger Ainley.

Roberson is from Jackson, Tenn. and attends Liberty Technology Magnet High School. He bowled at the school in 2006 and 2007 but the sport was discontinued. Roberson continued to practice and improve bowling in a youth league in Jackson. He was All-District and All-Region in 2006 and 2007. He turned in a high score of 289 while bowling in his youth league.

Roberson is a member of HOSA.

When asked why he chose Bethel Roberson responded, "When I came to visit Bethel, every person I came in contact with greeted me and made me feel like I was at home. Also, Coach Clay Boyd welcomed me and got to know me. Bethel just seems like it is the place for me with the Christian environment." Roberson is the son of Greg ad Lesa Roberson.
