BATESVILLE, Ark. (02.20.10) - The Bethel Wildcats claimed the series series over Lyon College with a 71-61 victory over the hosting Scots. Four Wildcats scored in double digits and Bethel made their free throw chances in the second count hitting 21 of 25.
Always a tough place to play, Bethel held onto a small two-point halftime lead 28-26. Bethel took their largest lead of the half on Donald "Trey" Harris' basket for a 14-7 lead. But the Scots battled back scoring late to keep the score close at the break.
Lyon scored the first six points of the second half to take a four-point, 32-28 lead. But Bethel went on a 12-1 run taking a 40-33 lead at 13:55. Andre Crudup's free throws at 4:17 gave Bethel their largest lead of the game, 64-47. From that point Bethel was keep their distance from Lyon and converted 13 of 14 free throws down the stretch.
Bethel improves to 12-16 (4-10) on the season. They will be in action on Thursday, February 25, 2010 when they host the RedHawks of Martin Methodist College with tip-off set for 8:00pm. The it will be the regular season finale on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 4:00pm as they Wildcats host Freed-Hardeman University; it will also be senior day.
