MEMPHIS, Tenn. (02.27.10) - The Bethel Lady Wildcats split their double header with the hosting Lady Bucs of Christian Brothers University. BU took game one 2-0 and lost game two 4-2. Katie Pacifici drove in three of Bethel's four runs.
 

Game One

Bethel got an outstanding pitching performance from starter Leah Hensley. Hensley went the distance giving up three hits. She walked five, but struck out six in picking up her first win of the season.

The Lady Wildcats offense got one the board early scoring in the first inning. With two outs, Ashley Simmons walked and then scored on Brittany Edmonds RBI double. In the third, Lindsey Davis walked to lead off the inning, Simmons singled, Edmonds grounded out, Amanda Renfroe walked to load the bases and Pacifici singled driving in Davis giving Bethel a 2-0 lead. CBU threatened in the third, but the Lady ‘Cats defense made the 2-0 lead stick for the remained of the game.

Game Two

Bethel's starter, Amber Metzger had a rough outing as CBU scored four runs in the second. She gave up 10 hits, four runs, three earned and struck out one in five innings. Ashton Carnahan pitched a scoreless sixth, walking one and striking out one.

The Lady Wildcats defense wasn't a crisp in the second game committing three errors.

Down 4-0, Bethel tried to get back in the game with a two run sixth. With one out, Edmonds doubled and with two outs Pacifici launched a two-run homer to right center. BU had six hits in the game, but could not muster any more runs in the loss.

Bethel is 1-1 on the year. The Lady Wildcats will play Union University on Tuesday, March 3, 2010 in Jackson, Tenn. with first pitch of the double header at 3:00pm. Then on Thursday, The Lady ‘Cats will be in Nashville, Tenn. to play a double header against the Lady Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene University at 4:00pm.
