Nina Djokovic surpassed 1,600 points and 1,000 rebounds for her career in the win over the Lady RedHawks
MCKENZIE, Tenn. (03.03.10) - For the first time since joining the TranSouth Conference, the Bethel University Lady Wildcats moved past the quarterfinals of the conference tournament with a 75-65 victory over Martin Methodist College. With her 18th double-double of the year, Nina Djokovic eclipsed 1,600 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career. Bethel will move to the Semi-finals and play Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn. on Friday, March 5, 2010 with tip-off set for 7:00pm. Bethel found themselves down 11-4 early, but outscored MMC 14-9 to the break to hold a 36-31 halftime advantage. Bethel controlled the glass holding a 26-14 rebounding advantage. Djokovic and Kashundria Berry each scored 9 points in the first. Djokovic was the Wildcats leading rebounder with seven. Anna Trull chipped in with seven points. Saddled with three fouls, Teena Carter played limited minutes in the first. But, Jana Roney filled in with four points, three rebounds and two assists.

Bethel distanced themselves right at the start of the second frame. With Tristain Johnson's three ball at 15:19, the Lady ‘Cats took a 14-point, 48-34 lead. BU would open their biggest lead of the contest with Roney's freebie at 9:32 for a 20-point, 57-37 advantage. MMC would claw back and cut that lead in half as the buzzer sounded. Bethel had a balanced attack in the second with Berry leading with nine points; Trull, Djokovic and Johnson all had seven points.

Berry finished with 18 points leading the Lady Wildcats in points. She added seven rebounds, six assists and one steal. Djokovic had 16 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals. Trull had 14 points, five rebounds and one steal. Johnson finished with 10 points, two rebounds and one block. Roney had eight points, five boards, five assists and one steal.

Bethel was well represented on the TranSouth All-Conference Team. Nina Djokovic was selected First Team. Kashundria Berry and Teena Carter were named Second Team.
