MCKEZNIE, Tenn. (03.01.10) - The Bethel bowling team grew by two members with the signing of Kim Qualls and Cody Wood. Qualls is from Savannah, Tenn. and is the daughter of James Qualls and Lisa Navarro. Wood hails from Lexington, Tenn. and is the son of Kim Gilbert.
Qualls is an accomplished bowler that has been on two state championship teams (2007 & 2009) and two state runner-ups (2008 & 2010) while at Hardin County High School. She played the position of anchor bowler at Hardin County and in 2009, she was Miss Tennessee Bowler of the Year.
Qualls believes that the best qualities she will bring to the Bethel team will her motivation and encouragement to team members.
Qualls was also being sought after by Cumberland University and Robert Morris - Peoria. She chose Bethel because she liked the way she felt on campus and because of the nursing program, her intended major.
Wood was a four-year member of the Lexington High School team and has bowled in several leagues. While at Lexington, he was selected All-Region. In his senior year, Wood was 4th in the region and had a 194 average. In his last match at Lexington, Wood was seventh in the region and need to bowl a 714 series to place fourth. He responded with a score of 734.
Wood hopes to improve academically and on the lanes.
Coming out of high school Wood was being recruiting by King College. He chose Bethel because it is a Christian school and he plans on majoring in Christian studies.
