Bethel pitcher Turner Cripps hureld five scoreless innings and picked up the win against Christian Brothers
MCKENZIE, Tenn. (03.05.10) - The Bethel Wildcats baseball team stayed undefeated with a 10-0 win over the visiting Bucs of Christian Brothers University. Bethel got five runs in the second and added five more to end the game by run rule in the seventh.
 

Turner Cripps picked up the win going five strong scoreless innings allowing five hits. He struck out six and only walked one. Derek Hinson threw the final two innings allowing one hit and one walk. Hinson struck out four.

The bottom of the first inning was a little scary as the Bucs' starting pitcher, Alex Sikes lasted just two batters. After striking out Jay Lowery to start the game, he took a line drive to the head off the bat of Craig Massey. Sikes was able to walk off the field but was unable to continue.

Billy Keck led off the second with a walk. Tyler Roberson followed with another walk. Hunter Deberry pinch ran for Roberson. Zach Tippitt reached base on a perfectly executed bunt to load the bases. Shea Thomas walked as Keck scored. Jay Lowery hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring H. Deberry. With two outs, Johnathan Deberry hit a RBI single to left, Tippitt scored. Jake Ramsey walked to reload the bases. Courtney Hardaway reached on an error, Thomas scored. Keck was plunked and J. Deberry scored as Bethel led 5-0 at the end of the second.

With two outs in the third, Lowery singled; Massey reached on an error; J. Deberry delivered another two-out RBI single as Lowery scored and Bethel took a 6-0 lead.

In the fifth, Thomas singled to lead off the inning; Lowery executed a sacrifice bunt; Massey reach on an error and Thomas was able to score on the play to put Bethel up 7-0.

Then in the seventh, Thomas led off with a single; Lowery put down his second sacrifice bunt of the day; Massey doubled off the right field fence scoring Thomas; J. Deberry singled to score Massey; Ramsey followed with a RBI double to score J. Deberry and end the game with Bethel's 10th run.

The Wildcats are 8-0-1 on the year. They will finish their series with CBU by going to Memphis on Saturday, March 6, 2010 with first pitch set for 2:00pm. Then Bethel will be on the road for Spring Break. On Monday, March 8, 2010 the Wildcats will in Marietta, Ga. to play #4 Southern Polytechnic State University for a double header starting at 12:00pm. Then the ‘Cats will be in Clearwater, Fla. On March, 10, 2010 they Wildcats will play Hannibal-LaGrange College at 9:00am and Northwestern College at 12:00pm. On March 11, 2010 the Wildcats will play Hannibal LaGrange College at 9:00am and Purdue University - North Central at 12:00pm. The Florida trip will conclude with a game against #21 Madonna University on March 12, 2010 at 10:30am.
