
Game One
Bethel starting pitcher Ashton Carnahan scattered nine hits over five innings allowing three runs and walked one. Katie Ervin did her part to keep the game close throwing two innings of scoreless ball.
The Lady Bulldogs plated two runs in the top of the first, but the Lady Wildcats got one run back in the bottom half of the inning. Carnahan was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a fielder's choice and scored as Brittany Edmonds reached on an error.
Cumberland added to their lead with a run in the third. Bethel got to within a run with Amanda Renfroe's blast in the bottom of the sixth. But that is as close as the Lady Wildcats would get.
Game Two
Leah Hensley went all nine innings allowing four runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out three.
Cumberland took the lead on a solo homer in the fifth. Bethel plated a run in the bottom of the seventh as Carnahan scored on Renfroe's ground out. Bethel had a chance to win it with Lindsey Davis on third with two outs but Kati Pacifici grounded out to short.
Cumberland was able to take the lead for good in the ninth with a 3-run homer. Bethel again threatened in the bottom of the ninth with two on, Edmonds hit the ball hard but lined into a game ending double play.
Bethel is 8-13 (1-5) on the season. They will be at home on Wednesday, April 31, 2010 to play a double header against Fisk University at 1:00 pm. Then on Thursday, April 1, 2010, the Lady ‘Cats will host the Lady Cougars of Mid-Continent University for a conference double header at 2:00pm.
