MCKENZIE, Tenn. (04.06.10) - Head Coach Jeff Britt has announced the signing of E.J. Perry to a letter of intent to play basketball at Bethel University beginning in the 2010-2011 season.Perry, a 6'2" point/shooting guard, was a three year standout for Jason Graves' Westmoreland High School team. In his high school career, E.J. scored 1,766 points and hit 335 three-point shots. In his senior year, Perry averaged 23.1 points, including a career-high 47 against Good Pasture Christian, en-route to being named District 9AA MVP for the 2009-2010 season. E.J. was also named to the All District First team his Sophomore and Junior years, as well as being named to the All Region Team his Senior year. E.J. was then selected to participate in the 2010 Music City All-Star Game, where he won the 3-point competition.
"I am a hard worker and will do everything in my power to get better and make my team better," said Perry when asked what strengths he would bring to the Wildcats next year. The Wildcats think that hard work will pay off in the same way it did in high school for E.J., where he earned District MVP, two district first team selections, and one all-region selection.
E.J. is the son of William and Pam Perry, and plans on majoring in education with a specialty in mathematics. Perry chose Bethel over the likes of USC Upstate, Tennessee Tech, Martin Methodist, Cumberland, Trevecca Nazarene, Volunteer State, Walters State, Georgia Coastal, and Northwest Florida Community College.
