
McKenzie, TN (November 26, 2007) – The Bethel College Lady Wildcats finished the 2007 season 16-18 and set a new record for most wins in a season. Bethel finished 6th in the TranSouth Athletic Conference at 8-10.
Individually, Michele Cunha (SO/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) had 891 digs on the season to set a new Bethel College record. Sarah Pipkin (SR/Pinson, TN), who at one point led the nation in blocks, finished the season with 206 assisted blocks to set a new record.
This record-breaking season produced five TranSouth Scholar-Athletes and three All-Conference players including Freshman of the Year. On the list of Scholar-Athletes from Bethel College were: Michelle Pittman (SO/Herrin, IL); Michele Cunha (SO/Belo Horizonte, Brazil); Takira Farmer (SO/Palm Bay, FL); Sarah Pipkin (SR/Pinson, TN); and Brittany Weller (SR/Glendale, AZ).
Jessica Vieira (FR/Matozinhos, Brazil) was chosen Freshman of the Year and named to the All-Conference second team. Michele Cunha was also named second team All-Conference. Senior Brittany Weller made the All-Conference list as Honorable Mention.
