MCKENZIE, Tenn. (04.25.10) - The Bethel Lady Wildcats basketball program has added three players to the in-coming 2010 class. Takara Harris, Hailee Deckard and Darnisha Miles have all decided to join the Lady ‘Cats.
 

"This trio of women should have an immediate impact for us right away," said Bethel University Head Women's Basketball Coach Chris Nelson. "They are capable of filling the holes left by our graduating seniors and our string returning core should help. All three of these ladies are tremendous athletes with the ability to help take our program to the next step toward a championship."

Takara Harris is originally from Ft. Myers, Fla. and has attended Kaskaskia Community College in Illinois for the past two years. She will have two years of eligibility remaining. This past season the 5'5" point guard averaged 8.4/points per game, 2.7/rebounds per game, 3/8/assists per game and 2.4/steals per game.

Hailee Deckard is from Naylor, Mo. and has played the past two years at The University of Missouri at St. Louis. The 5'10" guard averaged 11.4 points per game this past season and 5.4 rebounds per game. While a freshman at UMSL she started in 28 games and was fourth on the team in scoring with 7.4 points per game. She was second on the team with 67 assists and 34 steals. In high school she was a three-time first team all-state performer. She was also a McDonald's All-American nominee. She holds her high school's all-time scoring record with 2,153 points and is also the record holder for assists. Deckard was also an exceptional softball player earning all-state honors and setting a Missouri state record for triples in a season.

Darnisha Lyles hails from Mobile, Ala. and previously attended The University of Tennessee at Martin; she will have one year of eligibility remaining. Lyles is a 6'1" post player and this past season averaged 9.6 points per game (53% from the field), 8.1 rebounds per game and 1.6 steals. Before coming to UTM, Lyles played two seasons at Shelton State Community College. She pulled down 7.65 rebounds per game during the 2008-09 season. She led the team in offensive and defensive rebounds.
