MCKENZIE, Tenn. (04.23.10) - Lauren Adams and Chelsea Thomas both from White Station High School has committed to the Bethel University Bowling team. Adams is the daughter of Timothy Adams and Jamie Butler. Thomas is the daughter of Lee and Carla Thomas.
Adams has been a four year member of the varsity bowling team at White Station. She has also been on the Memphis Travel League, Winchester High School League and the Bartlett Sport Shot League. She was Rookie of the Year her freshman year. She was MVP her sophomore and junior years. Adams was Best of Prep finalist for three years and earned the honor her sophomore year. She qualified for the state championships all four years and was the state runner-up her senior year. She was a Ms. Tennessee Bowler of the Year Finalist and was captain of her team for three years.
Adams averages 202, bowled a high game of 289 and high series of 733. Her team at White Station was four year city of Memphis champions, three year regional and state qualifiers. The team was also a semi-finalist qualifier at state for three years.
Adams is a good student and was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. She was being recruited by Cumberland University, The University of Nebraska, Robert Morris - Peoria and Union College (Ky.). She chose Bethel because of the friendly environment and the close teacher to student ratio. She plans on majoring in Nursing.
Thomas was a member of the White Station team four years. She finished 9th at the state championships in 2010. She was the 2008-09 Memphis girls city champion and was the all-around champion for Memphis youth USBC Championships.
Thomas' team at White Station was four year city of Memphis champions, three year regional and state qualifiers. The team was also a semi-finalist qualifier at state for three years.
Thomas is also a good student and has been in the honors program at White Station. While at Bethel she plans on majoring in Human Development with a minor in Latin.
