BARDWELL, Ky. (05.06.10) - The Bethel men's basketball program has had him on the radar for the last few years and got their man as they sign Caleb Hardy to the 2010 class. Hardy is a versitle 6'5" player who sought after by several schools.

"Caleb brings the total package to the table when you are talking about what we at Bethel University are looking for," said Bethel men's Head Basketball Coach Jeff Britt. "Caleb is great not only on the basketball court but in the classroom and off the court as well. At Carlisle High School he was asked to do a lot of things, play guard, center, forward. At bethel we are planning on playing him at the wing. We think he will have no problem adjusting to the college level."

Hardy completed his career at Carlisle as the second all-time leading scorer and the all-time leader in rebounds. This past season he finished second in the state of Kentucky in rebounding and seventh in the state in field goal percentage.

Hardy was KABC Region 1 Player of the Year. He was named Purchase Play of the Year his junior and senior years. At Carlisle he was team MVP his junior and senior years. He earned All-Tournament honors his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Hardy was also chosen 1st District Team his sophomore, junior and senior years and was All-Academic his senior year. For his career he scored 1,882 points to go with 938 rebounds. He career scoring average at Carlisle was 18.3/ppg. This past year he averaged double-double with 29.4/ppg and 14.0/rpg; he also had 2.4 assists per game and 2.6 steals per game.

Hardy was being recruited by Union University, McKendree University (Ill.), Columbia College (Mo.), Lindenwood University (Mo.), Cedarville University (Ohio), Asbury College (Ky.), Mid-Continent University (Ky.), Army, Three Rivers (Mo.) and Shawnee (Ill.).

Hardy chose Bethel because of the small school atmosphere, close to home and where God wanted him to be. He also credits Coach Britt's persistence.
