Tyler West Signs with Bethel

MCKENZIE, Tenn. (05.25.10) - The Bethel men's soccer program has signed goalkeeper Tyler West to the 2010 class. West attended Greenbrier High School in Greenbrier, Tenn. He is the son of Terry and Beverly West.

West was the captain and stating goalkeeper at Greenbrier. He started the last two years in net and his freshman and sophomore years he started at center mid-fielder. He has also played two years of club soccer for the Tennessee United Soccer Club and the Storm Futbol Club. West led the state of Tennessee in saves and posted a 1.3 goals allowed per game average with eight shutouts. He earned all district honors and helped lead the team to the school's first district tournament win.

West us also a good student and is a Tennessee Scholar. He was also on the Honor Roll. West scored the highest English 9 Gateway in the country. He earned the Spanish Award and the U.S. Army All-Academic Team honor.

West was being recruited by Tennessee Wesleyan University, Freed-Hardeman University, Trevecca Nazarene University, Cumberland University and East Tennessee State University. He chose Bethel because of the great atmosphere, the successful soccer program and the great coaching staff.
