
The Wildcats shot 50% (17/34) in the first half and opened a 12 point lead just 7:19 into the contest. Bethel stretched the lead to 21 as Brian French hit a 3-pointer at 5:55 in the first. The Sabers battled back and got the game to within 15 at the break.
Bethel opened a 27 point advantage 3:55 into the second half on Clint Blackburn’s 3-ball. Bethel continued to dominate even as the bench was cleared. The Wildcats took the largest advantage of the game with 4:05 to go when Jay Cockrell hit from behind the arc and an 88-42 score. As the buzzer sounded, the Wildcats improved to 5-1 on the season.
Clint Blackburn led the Wildcats’ offense scoring 16. He was 5 of 11 from 3-point land and had two rebounds, an assist and two steals. Blackburn was named to the Roy N. Baker Classic All-Classic Team. Brian French scored 13, going 5 of 8 from the floor, he also had three boards, an assist and a steal. Leon Sewell dropped in 10 points to go with six rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal. Sewell was also named All-Classic. Jay Cockrell and Hrvoje Devcic each had nine. Brennan Ward was dishing it out, as he ended the contest with 12 assists on the night. He also had six points, three rebounds and two steals.
The Wildcats will be on the road in St. Louis, Mo. as they play St. Louis College of Pharmacy on December 8, 2007. Then on December 10, 2007 they will play Concordia Seminary in St. Louis at 6:00pm.
