MCKENZIE, Tenn. (06.24.10) - The Bethel University in-line hockey team announced that Cole Sonstelie from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada will play for the Wildcats in 2010. Sonstelie is able to play forward and defense. He is the son of Kelly Sonstelie; Lynn Sonstelie and Doug Howdle.

"Cole is a versatile player who will be able to fill multiple roles on our team," said Head Coach Matt Swinea. "He controls the puck well and can score when the opportunity presents itself. He visited campus with his mother, Lynn, and took a few days to make his decision. I know without a shadow of a doubt he is 100% committed to the team and is ready to help the team achieve high goals. I am looking forward to Cole being a solid player for Bethel in the years ahead."

Sonstelie joins fellow Canadians Ewen MacPherson and Josh Foote after playing with the pair for Team Alberta in State Wars in 2009 and again this coming fall. Last season at State Wars, Sonstelie posted four points (1G, 3A) in four tournament games. In the playoffs, Sonstelie scored two goals in two games. In the winter in-line league in Edmonton, Canada, Sonstelie was the second highest scorer with 131 points in 31 games (47 goals, 84 assists). The 2009 Team Alberta won the bronze medal at State Wars. Sonstelie has played for the Red Deer Canyon Cougars for the last nine years. In 2009, the team won NARCh Nationals four times and got the silver medal twice. At Winter NARCh in 2009, Sonstelie's team won the silver medal; he was second in the NARCh skills shootout competition. Playing for Team Mission in 2007, Sonstelie's team won gold in the Can West Cup and was selected to the NARCh All-Star team platinum division.
