Waterloo High School Product Paulie Mercier Signs with Wildcats

McKenzie, Tenn. (06.24.10)-Bethel University Head Coach Rusty Thompson announced Thursday Paulie Mercier of Waterloo High School has chosen the school to continue his education and career in baseball.

The Mashpee, Mass.  native hit .466 with 28 runs driven in his senior season at Waterloo. He also added three home runs, 14 stolen bases and 32 walks. He was an infielder and pitcher during high school.

The Biology major is the son of Paul and Sandy Mercier.

The all-purpose athlete was a Golden Glove winner and had the highest batting average for his team.

He feels his biggest strength is he is very coachable and says one of his biggest goals is to get stronger as a college player.

He feels Bethel is a great fit for him as a student athlete.

Coach Rusty Thompson likes his love of the game. "Paulie wants to learn and grow as a player and student. He loves baseball and we are happy to welcome him to our squad."
