
McKenzie, Tenn. (07.09.10)-Huntingdon baseball standout Jay Pierce signed with the Bethel University baseball program Friday morning. The outfielder was All-District two years with the Mustangs and was the offensive and pitching MVP with the program. He was also team captain.
The Accounting major was school Salutatorian and a scholar athlete at Huntingdon. He was the U.S. Army Reserve Scholar Athlete.
Jay was a member of the St. Jude Classic All-Tournament squad and a member of the All-West Tennessee All-Star team.
He had a career batting average of .343 for the Mustangs.
He is the son of Barry and Lori Pierce of Huntingdon.
He feels versatility is a strength he beings to the Bethel team and he chose Bethel because it is close to home and he has followed the program in the last several years.
Bethel Coach Rusty Thompson commented on the signing. "Jay is a team player who is very bright on and off the field. His character is exceptional and will serve our program in great fashion."
