Starla Cupples - Head Coach - 7th Season
Coach Starla Cupples is in her seventh year as head coach of the Lady Wildcats.The Lexington, Tenn. native began her career at Bethel as a student-athlete in the fall of 1999. The 1999 graduate from Lexington High School joined the Lady Wildcats Volleyball and Softball teams as a freshman.
Cupples majored in Kinesiology/Physical Education in her undergraduate studies. Starla was second-team All-Conference two years in softball. On the court, she played the outside hitter and opposite postions.
As a graduate assistant in 2004, Cupples worked under the guidance of Head Coach Malissa Vaughn. Then, in 2005 she took the reigns as head coach.
This past season was the most successful season in school history.The Lady Cats finished 25-12 on the year. With a conference record of 9-5, Bethel finished third in conference play during the regular season.. During the conference tourney the Lady Cats made a run to the championship game.
Bethel's Thaise Vieria was the TranSouth Conference Player of the Year and named Honorable-Mention All-American. Coach Cupples' had seven players named as conference Scholar Athletes.
Cupples has a 102-92 career mark at Bethel.
Starla, her husband Kevin, and two-year old Aiden reside in McKenzie.
Michele Cunha - Grad Assistant - 2nd Season
Michele Cunha will be in her second year as a graduate assistant with the Lady Wildcats. She is from Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
She was First Team All-Conference at Bethel in 2009, and still holds the school record for Digs in a season with 891 in 2007. She averaged 8.17 which was third in the NAIA in that same year.
The six-time conference Libero of the Week was also a three-time conference Scholar Athlete being awarded that honor in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
