Cats Fall to Freed-Hardeman in Series Opener
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcat baseball squad played host to No. 20 Freed-Hardeman Friday in the first of a three-game set for the weekend at Wildcat Park.
The Lions jumped to an early lead with four runs in the second. Freed added a single run in the fifth and two tallies in the sixth to lead 7-0.
The Wildcats got on the board in the seventh with a solo homer by Luis Aristud. Jose Olmeda scored in the eighth on a passed ball.
FHU outhit Bethel 8-5 in the game.
Marco Santa suffered the Bethel loss. Alex Huey pitched seven strong innings and picked up the Freed win.
The Wildcats dropped to 8-11 overall and 6-6 in the MSC. The Bat Cats are now 4-9 at home on the season.
The Lions are 21-8 and have won four in a row. FHU is 9-4 in league action. Freed is 8-4 in road games this year.
The squads meet in a twin bill Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
