Baseball Drops Tough Decision to Lyon

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Wildcats dropped a 5-1 decision to the visiting Lyon Scots Tuesday afternoon. The Wildcats fell to 10-17 with the loss. The Scots improved to 22-14.

Bethel took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth on a Wyatt McKee RBI single.

The Lyons took the lead in the seventh with a Jayden Cull three-run homer. The Scots added to the lead later in the inning with a Troy Strack RBI double. The visitors from Batesville added an insurance run in the eighth when Logan Doody walked with the bases loaded.

Both teams squandered chances to score in the game. Both teams had six hits each. Bethel drew nine walks but stranded thirteen runners.

Noah Willingham pitched well but was charged with the loss. Jordan Olivera picked up the Lyon win.

The Cats return to conference action this weekend hosting rival Cumberland University. The squads play a single game Friday at 6 p.m. and then meet in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.
