Bethel SSBU Falls to North Alabama
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Esports Super Smash team lost to North Alabama Wednesday night, falling 2-0 in a best of three series match.
The Cats started out in strong fashion in the first set but then ran into a Prya that caused the last three players some problems in dealing with that character. The second set saw the Cats get off to a slow start, but they bounced back and were playing well until they faltered running into issues with the Prya again.
The Bethel SSBU team played the game with two returners in Stefan Taylor and Michael Williams and two newcomers in Carly Worley and Lane Flesher.
Coach Matthew Ellis stated, "I'm proud of how the team competed. I think the nerves got to us a little bit and made us a little shaky in some situations but that will improve over time. I told the team there are small things that we will need to clean up before next week. All props to University of North Alabama. I think it shocked our group a little bit with their game plan in both games. We will do better on our game plan going forward and have a better strategic approach going into next week's game."
