Bethel Bass Team has Two Anglers Finish in Top Five in Big Bass Bash
PARIS, Tenn. - The Bethel University Wildcats Bass team competed in the Big Bass Bash out of Paris Landing State Park this past weekend and landed two top five finishes for the school.
Bethels' Levi Mullins took a 5.4 pound Largemouth Bass to the scales which was the largest bass of session one of the tournament. The huge fish also placed Mullins in third place overall. Mullins' teammate Gage Sherrod went to the scales with a 5.35 Largemouth Bass which put the Bethel angler in second place for the first session of the tournament. That effort won the Wildcats angler fifth place for the tournament.
Over five hundred students from across America competed in the Big Bass Bash event and 200 anglers from the field took fish to the scales during the weekend event. Anglers weighed in fish during seven different sessions during the two-day tournament as they competed for the title and valuable school of the year points.
Bethel anglers who also finished in the top twenty-five included, Josh Glenn with a 4.6 Largemouth that placed him in 12th place for the tournament. Seth Roberts finished in 17th place with a 4.52 Largemouth and Matthew Cummings of Bethel in 21st place with a 4.12 Largemouth bass to round out the top 25 finishes for the Wildcats.
Notable mentions for other Bethel anglers who took fish to the scales included, Hunter Shelton, Tucker Dottley, Harrison Terry, Anthony Cicero, Sean O'Brien, Hunter Fillmore, Niko Romero, Colby Carrier, Zack Bowen and Coleman Bingham.
"We are very proud of our Wildcats and their great performances during this event," said Head Coach Garry Mason. "These guys have continued the legacy of the Bethel University Bass Fishing team with top finishes in our last two tournaments, "said Mason. "What a great way to represent our school and start our 2022-23 tournament season. Congratulations to all the Bethel Bass Cats on a great tournament."
The Bethel squad will fish in the Major League Fishing event on Friday October 21st of this year in Counce, Tennessee at Pickwick Lake for their next competition.
