Bass Cats Finish Third in Texas Event

BROOKLAND, TX - The Bethel University Wildcat team of Coleman Bingham and Brayden Wilson finished in third place this past Friday in a Major League Fishing tournament held on Sam Rayburn Lake in Eastern Texas.

The pair of Bethel Anglers had a five fish limit weighing in at 20 pounds, seven ounces and had a 10-pound, six-ounce big Bass in their bag which was the biggest fish weighed in at the tournament.

Bethel's team of Colby Carrier and Justin Frey finished in ninth place with a five fish limit for the tournament at 17 pounds, one ounce.

The Sam Rayburn tournament saw over 180 boats from across the nation compete for both the first-place win and a chance to earn valuable points toward the School of the Year award.

The Bass Cats are still ranked number one in Major League Fishing for the 2024 season.

"One more tournament remains for the 2024 MLF season," said Head Fishing Coach Garry Mason. That tournament will be held on Lake Chickamauga this upcoming Oct 18th in Dayton, Tennessee.

"These guys are awesome," said Mason. "They have worked really hard all year to stay on top of the team of the year points race and with only one more tournament to go, things are looking really good for our chance to win the Major League Fishing School of the Year," added Mason.

The Wildcats lead the points race after tabulation of the points from the Sam Rayburn tournament by 16 points over LSU Shreveport and are 50 points ahead of Tennessee rival Carson Newman.

The Wildcats have also qualified several teams for the Major League Fishing Championship to be held in Decatur AL April 9-11, 2025.
