Bethel University Signs Bass Fishing Standout Jakob Dreher
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel University Bass program is excited to announce the signing of Jakob Dreher, a standout angler from Floyd Central High School. Jakob, who has been fishing since he was young, joins the team after an impressive four-year career at the high school level. His talent on the water and his strong academic background makes him a perfect addition to Bethel's competitive roster.
Jakob, who is set to major in Business at Bethel, is the son of Brandi and Jason Dreher of Georgetown, Indiana. Throughout his high school career, he demonstrated not only an exceptional skill for fishing but also a deep sense of dedication to his teammates and family. Dreher has been recognized for his consistent hard work, earning a place on the AB Honor Roll.
Reflecting on his high school fishing career, Jakob shared his most memorable moment as the time when his mother and younger brother joined him in a tournament. "Being able to fish together as a family was something special," he said. "It wasn't just about the competition; it was about making memories with the people I care about."
Jakob's strength lies in his relentless drive and his unselfish nature. Whether on the water or in the classroom, he puts the team first, always focused on helping others succeed. His Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) has been a key part of his success both in and out of competition. "I believe that staying positive, no matter the outcome, is crucial. If we work together, we can overcome anything," Dreher explained.
The young angler's skill set has drawn the attention of several top programs, including Faulkner University and McKendree University. However, it was Bethel University's culture and commitment to excellence that won him over. "I felt like Bethel was the right place for me. The coaches and team are welcoming, and I'm excited to grow as both an angler and a person here."
Bethel's Coach Garry Mason, expressed enthusiasm about Jakob's addition to the team, saying, "We are proud to have Jakob join our team here at Bethel University. His knowledge and experience will help at every turn for tournament competition. He's the kind of angler and teammate who will lift everyone up."
As Jakob prepares to begin his journey at Bethel University, his passion for fishing and his commitment to teamwork will no doubt make an immediate impact. With his academic drive, positive attitude, and team-first mentality, Dreher is ready to contribute to the success of the Bethel Bass Fishing Team for years to come.
