Two Former Bethel Greats Shine in Bass Event
Ocala/Marion County, Florida- Two former Bethel University standout anglers found themselves in a heated battle on Wednesday with the Berkley Fishing Big Bass bonus of $30,000 on the line.
Cole Floyd and Jake Lawrence both fished for Bethel University's Bass Fishing Team. Lawrence, a 2012 graduate and Floyd who graduated in 2018 had both helped to win national championships while competing for Bethel.
The two professional anglers found themselves locked in a battle for the big fish while competing in the Knockout Round of Kubota Tractor Corporation Heavy Hitters, presented by Bass Pro Shops.
Kentucky Lake standout Cole Floyd boated a nine pound seven ounce largemouth bass first thing Wednesday morning, only to be upstaged by fellow Kentucky Lake hammer Jake Lawrence with a nine pound eight ounce fish. Lawrence's bass netted him a purse for big fish for the day of $30,000.
Apparently, Florida's no problem for the TVA boys, both of whom will take to Orange Lake Thursday in search of another $100,000 for biggest bass and $100,000 for a Heavy Hitters victory.
