Cats Prevail at Brescia

OWENSBORO, Ky. – After opening their season with a 71-52 win at Welch College earlier in the week, the Bethel Wildcats traveled to Owensboro Saturday to battle the Brescia Bearcats.

The Wildcats led 29-28 at the half. Bethel came out strong in the second half and led 45-37 with 11 minutes left in the game. The Bearcats stormed back and led by as many as seven with four minutes left.

Bethel would mount a comeback of their own however and win 71-64.

Querrion Gadson led the Cats with 14 points. Tyler Neely had 12 points while Latrell Carter followed with 10 points.

Bethel shot 52 percent in the game and had a 26-18 rebound advantage.

Bethel's Jose Nazario played a huge factor in the game holding Brescia's leading scorer, Tay Smith to just three points. Smith entered the game averaging 17 points per outing.

The Bearcats dropped to 1-1 on the year.

Bethel has won 11 in a row in the series and holds a 11-2 advantage between the two.

Coach Jeff Britt stated, "We played a really tough team on the road. Brescia is very talented and skilled. I am very proud of the effort of our defense and that played a significant difference in the game. "
